ARC Europe Weather: Bermuda-Azores 23 May

ARC Europe Weather: Bermuda-Azores
23 May 06:53z

Gale near 49N/45W extends cold front SW toward 26N/65W, will remain stationary through morning of 25th, as the cold front moves NE over the next several days. By morning of 25th, the front will be weakening as it begins to approach W Azores. The gale will then weaken as it moves toward Iceland on 26th and dissipates.

On morning of 24th, a strong low will exit the NE US and move into the Gulf of Maine, before deepening into a gale SE of Nova Scotia by morning of 25th. Another cold front will extend SW across Bermuda on 25th, as the system slowly moves to the SE of Newfoundland by 26th as the front extends S toward 25N/55W.

High centered along E Azores will meander around the N Azores through 26th/27th. The ridge will slightly strengthen over the next several days, as ridging extends across the majority of the North Atlantic.

Conclusion: A cold front is expected to move E across zones HH,JJ,II,LL,KK through this afternoon into the day tomorrow and to continue moving E across Zone NN through the overnight period on 24th into 25th/AM, however it is expected to be rapidly weakening at this time.

Expect winds NNW-NW winds to gradually back to W and weaken through 24th in Zone HH as the cold front rapidly moves E across E Portions of Zone HH through mid-day today.

Zones JJ and LL will see rapidly freshening winds through today, starting near Central-E Portions of Zone JJ through this afternoon, and moving E to W Portions of Zone LL through tonight into the early morning tomorrow. Winds are expected to freshen into the low 30's with gusts near/at Gale Force as the front passes. Swells are expected to build to near 15-17ft, with the highest heights near N Portions of Zone JJ and LL through the overnight tonight into morning tomorrow.

Zone II and Zone KK will be impacted by the S most edge of the cold front and will see the least amount of enhancement of winds/seas as the cold front moves E across Zones II and KK through the afternoon today and 24th. However, N portions of Zone II and Zone KK will likely see gusts into the low 30's as the front passes E through tomorrow.

Zone NN will be the last to feel impacts from the cold front. SW-SSW winds will become S through the afternoon on 24th with gusts strengthening to near Gale force near NW portions of Zone NN through tomorrow evening. Swells will likely build to near 13-14ft as the cold front passes, with highest heights expected along N Portions of the respective zone.
