ARC Europe Weather: Bermuda-Azores 21 May

Weather Forecast Bermuda-Azores
Prepared: 21 May 21 06:38z

Gale near 50N/38W is forecast to remain stationary over next 24 hours as a cold front currently extends S towards 30N/40W. The front expected to lift NE today as it rapidly approaches the UK by tomorrow. A strong low currently emerging out of NE US is forecast to move across the Canadian Maritimes today and develop into a gale near 45N/50W by tomorrow morning. This system will then merge with the aforementioned gale to the north will strengthen and develop into a very large gale to the south of Greenland by morning of 24th. An associated cold front will move to the east of Bermuda tomorrow and move E extending as far south as 28N/50W by 24th/AM.

A weak ridge of high pressure centered near 32N/55W will rapidly move E ahead of the approaching front to the southeast of the Azores by morning of 23rd, where it will persist through 25th.

Conclusion: Zones EE and GG, conditions today are expected to remain light and benign as they remain in the high pressure ridge, however as the ridge moves quickly to the east, winds will begin to increase tomorrow morning causing winds to substantially increase and gust upwards of 40kts.

In Zones FF, HH, and JJ, very strong winds are expected to begin today but are expected to remain following in nature. The timing of the cold front will vary along the three zones, first impacting Zone FF, HH and then JJ, respectively as the front moves from west to east.

In all zones, the heaviest conditions will be experienced in the N portion of each zone, while the lower ends of ranges in the forecast will be in the southern portion of each zone.
