The World Cruising Club team are here to help make your participation as enjoyable as possible. All of our team members are keen sailors with a wide range of experience in cruising and racing offshore.
During the rallies all of the team will wear yellow World Cruising Club polo shirts. Our ‘yellow shirts’ will be on hand to help every day, from taking your lines to ensuring the social activities go with a swing.
Andrew Bishop: Managing Director
Andrew has overall responsibility for the planning and logistics of our rallies, and relations with our many sponsors and corporate members. Andrew has been sailing since he was a boy, including JOG races, one of the very early ARCs in 1989 and Caribbean and Pacific cruising. He now sails his own "Spray of Wight" a wooden replica of Joshua Slocum's Spray on the west coast of Scotland.
Paul Tetlow: Managing Director (designate)
Paul joins World Cruising Club from managing St Katharine Docks Marina in London and will take on full responsibility WCC from 1 January 2023, when current MD Andrew Bishop will step down. For Paul, it will be a return to familiar ground, having worked for WCC until 2015 as the Event Manager responsible for the World ARC round-the-world rally. Paul learnt to sail at a young age in dinghies and on his parents' yacht and then, whilst serving in the British Army, skippered various yachts in coastal waters and on longer passages offshore. Paul qualified as an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, crossed the Atlantic and led sailing trips around the Baltic and Mediterranean. Since leaving the Army, Paul has had the opportunity for more ocean sailing, including several of the passages which make up the World ARC route.
Jeremy Wyatt: Communications Director
Jeremy is in the lucky position of speaking to many of our participants well before the start of their adventures. He runs our website and print media as well as helping with preparation advice at seminars. He is a keen sailor and has sailed around the world with the Europa 92 rally, and made a double-handed circumnavigation of Britain. Living in Cowes he is right on the water's edge and enjoys evening and weekend racing on one-design day boats.
