ARC Europe Weather Bermuda-Azores 27 May

Synopsis: A ridge of high pressure centered to NE of Azores near 42N/24W will slowly move E near the N Iberian Peninsula by morning of 30th, weakening. However, ridging is still expected to extend W towards 35W to 40W and as far as Iberia.

Gale near 42N/50W will strengthen as it moves NNE toward 50N/44W by morning of 29th. This system will then remain stationary through morning of 30th before continuing to move E on 31st. An associated cold front extends SW from the center towards 25N/55W and further west back toward the Bahamas. This front will lift NE over the next several days, extending along 40N on 29th, while continuing to remain NW of the Azores through 30th.

Zone LL will experience the highest of conditions as this area will be in the middle of the interaction between the ridge to the east and cold front to the west. This will cause an increased and enhanced SWs that will occur over the next 2-3 days, where winds will persist between 15-25kts with gusts in excess of 30kts at times. Large swell up to 12 feet is expected before gradually decreasing over the next several days.

Zones KK and NN similar conditions over the next few days, as they will remain closer to the ridge axis. Although S-SWs will increase, they will remain away from the worse interaction. By 29th, Zone KK is forecast to re-enter the ridge axis where winds will become light once again.

Zone PP is forecast to remain in the high pressure ridge over the next 2-3 days where overall light and gentle conditions are forecast to occur with isolated showers/squalls daily.
