ARC Europe Weather: Bermuda-Azores 24 May

ARC Europe Weather: Bermuda-Azores
24May 06:39z

High near 38N/23W, with broad ridging extending N across Azores, and E to 10W, will shift NE to near 42N/18W by morning of 25th, while ridging strengthens from Iberia, W to along 15W.

Gale near 50N/44W, with a cold front extending SW across Bermuda and S Bahamas, will retrograde into the S Labrador Sea through overnight tonight, while the associated cold front moves E across Azores through morning of 25th and then weakens.

Another gale will be centered near 47N/45W by morning of 28th, while a weak cold front extends along 40W, and SW to near 23N. The gale will lift NE and weaken through the evening of 29th, while the cold front makes little E progress under the suppression of the aforementioned ridge.

Conclusion: In Zone JJ and Zone II, expect backing winds to gradually weaken in intensity through 25th. Swells are expected to continue to gradually lower through 25th as well. Then the cold front is expected to cause S-SSW winds to freshen into the high 20's with gusts reaching near Gale force through 26th. Heaviest conditions are expected at far NW portions of zones JJ and II through 26th.

In Zone LL and Zone KK, expect winds to gradually weaken while backing in direction to SE through 25th, then expected to begin freshening ahead of the cold front through 26th. NW-WNW swells are expected to change little in direction through 25th while lowering in height. Then expect swells to mix S and rapidly build in height through 26th.

In Zone NN, expect SW winds to gust to near 30kts through overnight tonight as the cold front passes E, then weaken through 25th into 26th as they continue to back in direction to S. Current WNW-NW swells near 12-14ft at NW portions of Zone NN are expected to lower in height through 25th and 26th while changing little in direction.
In Zone PP, expect W-WNW swells to gradually build in height through overnight tonight before gradually lowering on 25th and 26th. S winds are expected to ease through 26th while backing in direction and becoming E-ESE through 26th.
