Bermuda to Azores Wx - 27 May

Bermuda to Azores Wx
27 May

Good Morning. A gale centered 42N/18W will move NE near 45N/08W on the 28th as it gradually weakens into a low, then will dissipate over the Bay of Biscay into the 29th. A trough of low pressure will remain in place along W Iberia into the evening of the 29th as the low dissipates.

A high is centered just N of Bermuda with associated ridging extending ESE to the Canary Islands. This ridging will persist for the next few days while being pushed S of 30N on the 29th into the 30th due to a strengthening gale to the N. The ridging will move back into place between Bermuda and the Canaries on the 02nd as the gale begins to weaken.

A developing area of low pressure near the Grand Banks will move E towards 46N/34W on 28th while gradually strengthening. At that time, the associated cold front will extend SW to about 35N/50W. This low will not strengthen much further as it remains stationary through the 30th. The cold front will move E reaching the Azores on the 30th.

A strengthening gale will be near the Grand Banks on the night of the 29th.
This will rapidly strengthen while moving SE towards 40N/27W by the night of the 30th at which time the associated circulation will extend S to about 30N. The gale will remain strong while slowly moving E towards the Azores on the morning of the 01st. On the evening of the 01st, this gale will begin to gradually weaken while lifting NE out of the area through the 02nd.

Conclusion: Conditions across NN and PP will begin to ease slightly today as the gale mentioned above begins to weaken and move away the area.

Conditions will begin to increase slightly W to E across the area tomorrow due to the cold front associated with the low currently near the Grand Banks moving across the area. This will build swell up to near 6 feet across JJ and LL by 28th and across NN.

The main concern over the next several days is the final gale mentioned above which will develop near the Grand Banks on the 29th. Due to the rapid strengthening, strong and large swell will be found across HH and JJ by the morning of the 30th. These strong conditions will then reach the Azores by the night of the 30th.
