BVI to Bermuda WX
09 May

PREPARED: May 09 08:33z
FM: WEATHER ROUTING INC. (WRI)

Synopsis: Good morning. High pressure ridging currently centered near 35N/45W, extends SW'ward towards Hispaniola. This ridge of high pressure is forecast to broaden through tomorrow while weakening, as it moves slightly W'ward towards 55W. Through the 11th, the high pressure ridging is forecast to move E'ward towards 40W while broadening slightly, and will extend from the Azores, SW'ward across the Caribbean Islands and the Bahamas.

A front currently extends from Puerto Rico, NNE'ward towards S'rn Greenland, with a weak low pressure trough extending along it from Puerto Rico NNE'ward towards 30N/60W. This cold is forecast to weaken through tomorrow while retreating W'ward. The associated low pressure trough will also weaken with the weakening front. This front will weaken further and dissipate through the 11th, with the associated low pressure trough weakening/dissipating as well.

Conclusion: Higher winds are expected to extend along the SE'rn corner of Zone A with lighter winds to the NW. Along Zone B, with what remains of the front, winds tend to be strong and NE'ly within the NW'rn portion of Zone B with lighter SE'ly winds along the SE'rn Portion. From 10/12Z through 11/12Z this difference in winds will dissipate as winds become generally E-SE'ly during this time frame.

Outside of these differences in winds, the primary concern across Zones A, B, and C will be residual squalls from the weakening front, where vessels have the potential to encounter locally higher winds. Otherwise expect generally moderate to fresh winds across Zones A and B with lighter winds expected across Zone C.

With regards to transit to Fort Lauderdale, expect the strongest winds within Zones A and OBC with more moderate winds within Zone D.
