A Small Nest - Ed The Iguana on A Small Nest - day 1 & 2

st1\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } Hi, This is a message from Ed The Iguana.  I’m the plastic Iguana that Nick of the ARC-office gave to the crew of A Small Nest to cross the Ocean.  At least, people think I’m a plastic Iguana, but that’s not true: have you ever heard of a plastic Iguana writing a log? It’s my 10th crossing of an ocean with the ARC now, and I’m happy for the crew of A Small Nest, because now they finally have an experienced ocean sailor on board. Boy, are they lucky with me! The first two days were pretty rough and the crew had to find their sealegs.  Of course, I didn’t have any problems finding my sealegs, so I was able to play with the kids Sepke, Ward & Flor while the parents were changing. read more...

A Small Nest - The adventures of Ed The Iguana on A Small Nest - Part II

Hi there! Here I am again, Ed the Iguana, still on yacht A Small Nest.I'm really angry with Nick of the ARC. He gave me in the hands of a bunch of crazy people. Willem, the captain still makes me drink 1,5 liters of water a day.  Sepke, the girl of 11, likes to dress me as a barby! Yesterday I had to wear a skirt the whole day long. Help! Luckely I could escape and hide myself in the basilplants of the kids. Too bad, but I don't think they will win the basil competition of Sallyanne. I couldn't hold it anymore (because of the 1,5 liters of water) and wetted the plants. The plants now look like spinach. Spinach that has been boiling for an hour. Flor (7), the youngest, likes to play with me like I'm an aeroplane! And I am afraid of heights! And the food is terrible! Yesterday we had rice.. read more...

A Small Nest - The adventures of Ed The Iguana on A Small Nest - Part III

Hi there!Just a short message of Ed The Iguana: I'm still alive ! Yeeha! It took the crew of A Small Nest only one hour to catch their first tuna. So I was lucky: otherwise they would have had me for dinner. And above all: the tuna was delicious! The best tuna in the 10 crossings I had so far!But the party didn't last that long for me. I'm still hooked up in a boat with a family of crazy humans. Now, they have started to do aerobics on board. And as a crew member I'm obliged to join the aerobics. They make me wear a white shiny legging and a lightblue stretchshirt! My tail allmost fell off when I saw myself in the mirror! And they do these aerobics for an hour a day! Mmmmman!Nick, it is really not going to be your best day when we see each other again! An Iguana can be coldblooded and. read more...

A Small Nest - The adventures of Ed The Iguana on A Small Nest - Part IV

Hi there! Here I am again, Ed the Iguana, still on yacht A Small Nest. One of the favorite toys on board for the kids is a small red playmobil speedboat. They troll it behind the yacht. The only thing they do then is, stare at it. When I said to them that there was nothing exciting to that, they said: we'll show you something exciting! They trolled the playmobil boat in, took a rope and suddenly they jumped all over me. They tightened me up on that little boat and threw it back in the water! The animals! I've been tortured! I felt like Ben Hur behind a horse. You will not believe what else I had to do today: take a shower! First, they connected me with a lifeline to the boat (I guess they wouldn't wanna loose me, after all). Then they poored two buckets of salt water over me. And then they. read more...

A Small Nest - The adventures of Ed The Iguana on A Small Nest - Part V

Hi there! Here I am again, Ed the Iguana, still on yacht A Small Nest, with that family of crazy Belgian humans. It's not going so good with me, lately. I sleep like dolphins do. One eye open, using only one hemisphere, the other eye closed, so the other hemisphere can sleep. That's because I'm starting to fear for my life. The last two days the crazy humans didn't have much luck in fishing. Not that I'm afraid that they will eat me, because I could convince them that iguana tastes like rat that has been lying in the Caribean sun for 3 days. But, they lost 3 of their plastic squid lures the last 48 hours, and when the captain said he's using his last lure now, he was looking me straight in the eyes. My colour changed to the white polyester of the boat and I decided to shut my big mouth for. read more...
