Gian - Tree Planting
This year we also took part in tree planting. With beautiful weather and an incredible view of Las Palmas, we planted around 150 trees. It's amazing how slowly these hardy seedlings grow. Our 2021 range was still very low and one understands even more that this action must be carried out in the very long term.image0.

Gian - After the ARC is before the ARC
After our first ARC participation in 2015, we crossed the Atlantic again in 2021 with the World Cruising Club. It was a special year, as because of the COVID virus every planning had big question marks. Therefore our ARC World 2022 was also cancelled by the WCC. Too bad, but a right decision at that time. So we had to start our plan 'B'. Caribbean instead of Pacific and then back to Croatia. But quickly it was clear to us that we want to participate in the ARC again in 2023. Why ? A great organization, a great adventure and many new friends ! Kithara, Escapade of London, Casamara, Blue Magic, Daisy, Cessa, the Dragon fleet, Sylvia and and and - encounters that you do not want to miss.We are looking forward to the ARC 2023 ! Maybe we can defend our first place in the Cruising B Division.

Gian - Log Start -12 days – Provisioning
Besides the weather, food is an important factor when crossing the Atlantic. You probably always buy too much, but you don't want to "starve". The biggest challenge comes when the many boxes from the supermarket are delivered to the jetty and the stowage on the yacht is due. On the one hand, space is limited - on the other hand, you have to find everything - even in rough seas. Some experience in this task helps a lot. Written by Wolfgang .

Gian - Log Start-13 Days- Preparations
6 months ago we started with our Jeanneau Odyssey 54DS "Gian" in Punat/Croatia. This trip took us via Sicily, Sardinia, Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Malaga, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura to Las Palmas, where we arrived in mid-October. We are moored at jetty "S". Now we -Petra and Wolfgang- are waiting for our crew. On 16.11. Rainer (Switzerland), Andreas (Germany) and Miika (Finland) will arrive. By then, all repairs, extensions and maintenance work should be completed. The customs formalities were handled very quickly and without any problems, as was the WCC security check with Roger. The first videos are posted on Youtube (ARC 2021) and also the Gian homepage is up to date ( www.sv-gian.com ).The start number (67) is mounted and actually it could start !Written by Wolfgang.
