Silver Bear - Off to a ripping start.

What a marvellous send off by the people of LasPalmas, complete with band and carnival atmosphere.   Unfortunately the party did not last long and ataround 9pm last night we had a slight problem with the mainsail which is nowextensively damaged with rips in the bottom section about 4 foot long. I do notthink it will be possible to repair but we are continuing using a double reef,with an option of twin headsails (or cruising shute).   The crew are fine and morale is good so there is nocause for concern.
