What a marvellous send off by the people of Las
Palmas, complete with band and carnival atmosphere.
Unfortunately the party did not last long and at
around 9pm last night we had a slight problem with the mainsail which is now
extensively damaged with rips in the bottom section about 4 foot long. I do not
think it will be possible to repair but we are continuing using a double reef,
with an option of twin headsails (or cruising shute).
The crew are fine and morale is good so there is no
cause for concern. Ali (my wife) is more concerned about the fridge not working
very well!
