Challenge 93 (Fisher&Paykel NZ) - Message from Inmarsat-C Mobile

Blog of Fisher & Paykel Challenger 93, day 12: Hooooooorayyyyy!!!! After 12 days, 16 hours, 6 Minutes and 53 seconds we crossed the finishing line in Rodney Bay! The last day was again very exciting - wind from 5 up to 28 knots, regattasailing at itsbest and worst in just a few hours. We ruined more sails in one day than during the whole journey before unfortunately. St Lucia greated us with heavy rain and the way to our berth was not as deep as supposed so we got stuck but finally we made it :-). Mood of the happy crew increased with the welcome drinks. It was a really great and unforgettable journey across the Atlantic and thanks to Kino, Simbi, Fabio and Sergio everything went really, really well (with exception of the unfortunate sails which didn't survive). Challenge 93 (Fisher&Paykel NZ) - Message from Inmarsat-C Mobile

Blog of Fisher & Paykel, Challenge 93, day 11: Less wind always leads to more cooking...and after heavy rain in the morning there's just one answer: crepes for breakfast! Today we had the chance to use some sails we actually haven't seen before (but for the untrained eye it would be very hard to spot the difference). Just about 300 NM to go and we already feel very carribean- we are melting away! Today we saw a couple of birds - one accompanied us for a while, but didn't risk to land on our deck - maybe the crew needs a shower?! But we are still good looking ;-) More tomorrow, cheers, the crew of Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93. read more...

Challenge 93 (Fisher&Paykel NZ) - Message from Inmarsat-C Mobile

Blog Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93 day 10: What an exciting all- inclusive day! During the morning the good looking crew worked on their tan, later we spotted some other boats and in the afternoon we had the wonderful chance to do some extended testing of our bad-weather-clothing in heavy rain. Wind speed up to 27 knots guaranteed really nice sailing. Right now there is some shouting contest going on while changing the kites (we have two!one for each mast) for the 100th time ;-)Also the bets between crew members on our estimated arrival time reach the next level- winner pays the welcome drinks! cheerio, the crew of the Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93. read more...

Challenge 93 (Fisher&Paykel NZ) - Message from Inmarsat-C Mobile

Blog of Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93, day ...well, what day is it?! Time really flies. Already ten days out in the blue, 796 NM left. Light wind today, conpensated by heavy food. Breakfast: very british porridge by Fabio, lunch very spanish tuna pasta by Sergio, 5 o clock tea: french crepes by Simbi, Dinner: still to come. OMG. Deeply missed are cold drinks like pina colada. Or whatever. Skol, the very fat but still good looking crew of Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93. read more...

Challenge 93 (Fisher&Paykel NZ) - day 9

Blog of Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93, day 9: ... I'm singing in the rain...! This morning the already very good looking crew got an extra shower :-) but thankfully quite warm. Later on we spotted another sailing ship which was one more than yesterday when we just saw one whale. Also very nice. Sailing is mostly quite relaxed until captain decides to change another sail again (and we've got quite an amount of sails on board!). Probably we used each of them by now except the storm sails. Mood good, food good - what more can one ask for?! Cheers, the crew of the Fisher & Paykel Challenge 93. read more...
