The ARC Europe fleet enjoyed a quality BBQ party last night organised primarily by Marina de Lagos to celebrate the end of winter season. Before making their way to Linda’s Beach bar for the Hog Roast BBQ, crews enjoyed a sunny welcome drink in the lovely ‘Lighthouse’ bar overlooking the marina. A quick casual game of Pool became more and more heated as crews from Sookie & Talisman took on Rally Control. Keith from Sookie demonstrated some fine Snooker tricks before it was time to gather the troops for the short walk along the boat yard to the beach.
Linda’s Beach Bar was a hive of activity once the ARC Europe participants arrived, with the local staff dealing with the influx very well, ensuring all crews got their fair share of complimentary local lager, wine, and of course Sangria, before being served some fine Pork straight from the spit accompanied with pasta, salad and French fries. A live band provided the sound track for the evening, playing some typical Brazilian rhythms, which got the hips moving and feet stamping.
The football match between England & Sweden was also going on during this time, so every so often a loud cheer would be heard coming from various corners of the restaurant. The final score was 3-2 to England, much to the dismay of Swedish flagged crew on Aniara II.
Today the fleet are enjoying the sunshine in Lagos, and taking advantage of the free use of the swimming pool within the Marina De Lagos Hotel and taking the opportunity to explore this historic town. Yachts Irena, Sage and Duale made it into Lagos in the early hours this morning, making all yachts that left the Azores with the rally now here in time for the prize-giving tomorrow evening.
