The Rally Portugal fleet are all in the Bay of Biscay. You can see the boats' positions on the Fleet Viewer . Most have endured a rather uncomfortable crossing, with a rough sea left over from the low pressure systems that passed through last week. The winds are from the north west and decreasing, and the seas are also moderating, so the last stage of the crossing should be more comfortable.
The first boat into Bayona will be Firedrake, motor sailing at over 7 knots average and will be in harbour on Tuesday night (tonight). Joining Firedrake on Wednesday should be Coral IV, Katerina, Gertha 4, Murphy, Viking, Seraphina, and maybe Scarlet Lady and Ailsa if the wind holds. With the forecast for the winds to become lighter over the next 24 hours, this may slow some of the boats down if they are unable to motor at a good speed. Tail-end charlie is Miss Charlotte, with over 270 nautical miles to go. Making 5.5 to 6.6 knots, she should be in on Thursday, before the next low pressure system tracks through.
Moonstream are already in port, having made landfall in Ribadero on Monday after they started from Brest last week. Sadly John and Elspeth on North Point have decided to abandon their crossing and are returning to Falmouth. We will miss them on the rally.
