Atlantic Cup Prize-giving - Leg 1
Atlantic Cup 2012 Prize-giving Leg 1 |
|
The Atlantic Cup participants all gathered tonight for the last official function on the event, here in Bermuda. Kindly hosted by the St Georges Dinghy & Sports Club, the Atlantic Cup prize-giving was a lovely intimate evening where lots of fine Complimentary Gosling Rum was enjoyed before a traditional fish fry dinner was devoured.
Andrew Holmes, brand director for Gosling Rum took participants on a journey through the history of one of the oldest companies ever to exist in Bermuda, and enabled Atlantic Cup crews to taste a wide selection of fine rum.

Following on from this tasting session, the rally participants were taken outside for a group photo before heading inside for dinner where a slideshow of photographs taken throughout the rally were projected on a large screen for crews to enjoy. The Prize-giving then followed as Lyall and Nick spoke to the fleet, announcing the results of the leg as well as presenting boats with unique prizes, so that every boat had 'won' a prize by the end of the evening. Line honours went to Cosmic Dancer V, the smallest yacht in the fleet and the only double handers, who clocked the least engine hours and won overall. Field Trip won the prize in the multihull category.

Congratulation goes to all entrants in the years Atlantic Cup, and we wish you a great sail onwards to your USA destinations, and happy sailing from there. Hope to see you on another World Cruising event in the future.
