The good part of being at sea is that we have time to catch up on our reading. For Lee that means plowing through the several years of magazines he didn't read while we were at home. He's making some progress but he also plays computer games so he isn't getting through the magazines as quickly as I'd like.
I have been reading a number of novels, several historically based novels, a self help book, a classic.... Now I've started "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham - revised version. This will take more than a few days to go through!
We have had good wind so far, only a few rain squalls, and all is going well. We still have 1307 miles to go and it is likely the wind will lighten up further along....so we are probably looking at 9 or 10 more days.
I made flan for dessert and the girls have been bugging me so off to serve dessert and finish cleaning up from dinner. Cooking and cleaning up at sea isn't easy - things slide around a lot....we have been really rolling around - we're close to burying the port and then starboard toe rails when we roll! Luckily the girls sleep pretty well with this. I can't sleep below and I sleep best during the day when I sleep on the helm seat with my legs over the low side. Otherwise Lee and I usually sleep in the cockpit at night while taking turns on watch. He doesn't usually sleep below as it's too hot for him.
back to galley duty,
