Greetings from yacht Ensemble!
Only 1300nm to go. Unfortunately the wind gods have deserted us - and while we are still sailing we are making a poultry 5 knots in only 8 knots of breeze. Hopefully the wind will pick up today or else we might have to start using the engines. The Southerly trade winds just haven't materialised for us - while those of the fleet who have stayed North seem to be benefiting from a storm front closer to the equator. Such is
sailing!
And despite our slower speed - the fish gods are also not being accommodating... (other than the flying fish). Yesterday we saw a squadron of over one hundred fish take off at once - it looked like the ocean was going to meet the sky! Still - all Joel wants for his birthday today is to catch a Tuna - so wish him luck! (I'm also a big fan of the sushi).
The up side of the lack of wind is lovely calm seas - so Magali has been cooking up a storm. Home made pizza, bread and banana bread with a thermomix risoto or pasta are the staples. To celebrate Joel's birthday today we are planning pancakes for breakfast, hamburgers for lunch, and veal parmigiano for dinner (unless we catch a Tuna first) ... so lack of wind does have it's compensating benefits... although with Magali cooking and it being Joel's birthday - looks like I'll be doing the washing up!
Cheers
Dave & Magali
