Happy St Valentine's Day! We are now less than 1 degree north of the equator, expecting to cross around noon today. Joel brought some great props for our crossing ceremony and he and the girls were working on costumes for everyone. We expect the event to be a good photo opportunity and will post the best ones online.
We will arrive in San Cristobal early Wednesday morning and hope to complete all customs and immigration requirements by noon so that we can go ashore for lunch. We are scheduled to participate in a day-long tour on Thursday which will include snorkeling to view some of the unusual sea life which has made the Galapagos islands so famous.
Yesterday was no better for our fishing results, no apparent activity whatsoever. The girls have been keeping up with schoolwork and are now pretty much caught up. Corinne prepared a wonderful paella dinner last night, afterwards we watched the movie Mama Mia! which Joel had not seen before, it was at least the twentieth time for everyone else. We've had quite a lot of rain and lightning, were surprised to see a large container ship emerge close behind us from a passing shower since we had become complacent about watching for ships after several days of no traffic. Our watermaker is producing remarkable amounts of fresh water from the warm equatorial seawater, we are now getting 60 gallons per hour! We also tested the internet access of our INMARSAT system and were surprised to learn of the new, all-time record pricing of $500 per share for Apple stock. Congrats to our friends and relatives who still own a few shares.
