Today was the first of 3x one-day tours we have booked. This one, to South Plaza island, involved taking a bus the length of Santa Cruz, through the highlands. Then transfer to a motor yacht and a 45 minute trip to the destination. Saw a large Manta ray jump out of the water and a variety of birds. Walked for an hour and a half around the island. Lots of sea-lions along the shore playing, feeding and barking. Lots of golden-hued land iguanas, about a meter or so long. Fun feeding them flowers and fruit from giant cactus plants. The much smaller marine iguanas were also around and we saw a blue-footed boobie and a masked boobie. The islands are famous for these birds.
Next we went snorkeling for about 45 mins along a cliff wall. Saw a great variety of fish of various sizes and colors and a lone white-tipped shark up quite close.
A good day all round, and.........it has hardly rained at all!
