Samsara - Sail, motor, repeat

Feb 12

We have 280 miles to go to the Galapagos. We have been sailing as many hours of the day and night as we can and motoring when the wind shuts off. Right now the spinnaker is up and we're sailing at less than 4 knots - so we'll probably take it down and motor, and when the wind comes back up sail some more......

We have gotten a few math lessons done today, and I finished my second novel of the leg - so although we haven't been able to sail very fast it's been a pretty easy leg so far. Some of the boats have hit rain squalls and we've seen a few, but we have only had a few drops of rain on this leg.

We have seen spinner dolphins a few times, watched them jump in the distance and play in the bow wake too, and this morning we saw some really large dolphins going the other way so we only got a quick look - they were bigger than Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins.

We're roughly 2 degrees north of the equator now - crossing that will be a milestone.

Pauline
