Crazy Horse - Sept 3

We just successfully arrived in our berth at Tipperary Marina in Darwin,
Australia. Because of the high tides they have in this part of Australia we
had to come through a lock to get into the marina. It was like going through
a mini Panama Canal. We tied up to the lock and the door closed behind us
just like in Panama. The water rushed in and then we were brought up to the
level in the marina. This is the way that they deal with the high tides here
in Darwin. The high tides range anywhere from 12 to 20 feet . That rivals
the tides in the Boston area. We are not used to this coming from Maryland.
The tides in Maryland are more like one and a half feet.

Last night Matt, Jean , and I went to the Mindl Beach Market. They had food,
arts and crafts, and an interesting group of people in the crowd. It
reminded me of the 60s. There was a lot of Aboriginal art but not a lot of
Aboriginal people who were running the stands. There was a lot of Indian and
Asian food and some from Australia. It was a long walk from the sailing club
and a long dinghy ride back to the boat. By the time we made it "home" we
were ready for the bunk.

This weekend we will try to see what is happening here in Darwin. We hope to
get the Skype up and running so we can talk to family back home.

Rosemary, Bill, and Matt
