I still seem to be confused about the time. It seems that we are ahead of the UTC time and it keeps telling us the wrong current time. There are so many time changes along the way. No wonder we are confused. We are living in a world with feet in too many time zones. I feel like the "time traveler".
This is a long trip to the other side of Oz. It is quite bouncy but with lots of wind. We were going at times last night at 12 kts.with a 90deg. windangle. Now that's really fast for a sailboat. We had a hard wave that knocked everything off the port side of the boat that wasn't tied down with glue. It convinced Matt to put on his lifejacket and hook on even while sitting in the cockpit. He realized if he would have been looking over the rail he would have been a goner.
Yesterday Matt and I were so excited we saw a great looking low flying plane overhead just buzzing us like crazy. We were waving and all excited. Turns out it was a Customs plane possibly looking for some illegal aliens. I just thought they would have to been pretty desperate to be on this wild bouncing machine. The Australians really crack down on illegals. Of course they have a natural barrier to discourage many folks. But I guess if you get desperate enough you will try anything to have freedom.
I'm trying to motivate myself by reading all the solo round the world sailors. I figure if they can do it I should be able to do it with the great company I have, the wonderful food, and exciting disagreements we have. We always agree with one thing. We love to eat. Anything anyone is fixing is a gourmet meal according to any one of us. When it requires so much energy just to stand up cooking the meal can be downright dangerous.
It will be wonderful to get to Darwin and have a shower in a place without aangle of heel of 5 to 15. I may just stand there and sing a Oklahoma! with the warm water and the no heel for about 15 min. Watch out!
