Crazy Horse is sailing along today at 7.2 kts.SOG. That is the speed that you would be traveling if you were going over land. That is a pretty good pace for a sailboat. We are going downwind and the wind is about 14kts. We can make good time if this keeps up.
I forgot to mention in my blog about the children at Lizard I. They dropped over to Crazy H after we had completed our climb. They were selling burny beans that they had polished and painted designs of lizards, sea horses, and other sea creatures with Lizard Island and the year painted on too. Their
names were Anastasia and Matthew with 2 ts. They dinghied themselves over by themselves and made wonderful conversation about where they were from and how they were circumnavigating Australia with their family. They were being home schooled and were both as bright and interesting as could be. They were all of about 8 and 10 years old. I told them they were very enterprising to have such a business. They said they knew and had been doing it "for years". Of course I am an easy touch for kids so I bought 5. They were only $1 a piece. It is always good to see kids who can adapt, overcome and improvise. They were very happy and seemed quite mature compared to most kids. They didn't seem to mind not having a telephone or computer game at their beckon call.
I keep saying I am learning quite a lot on this trip. It is always good to be able to learn from all ages and cultures. We are lucky enough to be able to have the opportunity to meet and see so many different folks and cultures. The ideas and cultures are so limitless. Even though we are all alike we can be so different too!
So enough already! I am getting off the soapbox now! Too much time to think and get philosophical.
