Tuesday 17th June
Definitely a DBQ day – we’re planning one with our company in the bay – word is spreading and it looks like it’s going to be a bit of a party!
We start the day with a joint dinghy trip with Tallulah Ruby to Swallows cave where we snorkel inside and outside the caves- it’s great snorkelling; stunning rock formations, clear water, beautiful coral and fish. We then go and explore the beach and pick a spot to set up camp. At 4pm we go and start building a bonfire and setting things up. We’re soon joined by Tallulah Ruby, Strega, Cleone, Andante, Quasar, Northern Sky, Akoya, Maamalni ,WMD and a New Zealand couple who are also moored in the bay. As the sun sets we’ve got a great bonfire going, a huge pile of wood has been collected, the BBQ’s working overtime and there’s lots of everything! Once the foods out of the way, Gerry of Northern Skies gets out the guitar and the sing song begins. Later Strega and Windflower give us some German songs, then it’s the Three Tenors with Miguel on the guitar. Unfortunately Ian is not feeling too good (we suspect the oysters given to him by the TR hunter gatherers yesterday!) so Annie runs him back to the boat. By the time she gets back, the party is leaving the beach on some very precarious dinghys –( a wave comes over and TR’s is submerged!) – and heading to Strega to continue the party. It’s difficult to tell how many people (there must have been 30+ on the beach!) manage to pile onto Strega but Andreas is plying everyone with rum, the music is blaring and there’s lots of dinghys tied up to the stern. A late one……
