Strega - Strega log 21-05-08

Left Rangiroa a bit earlier than planned, motored all the way in to Papeete-city marina. Felt weird to hear cars and airplanes outside, now that we were used to the tempo of the atolls in Tuamotos. Jörg left the boat and flew home to Berlin. The job-to-be-done-in-tahiti list we made earlier got shorter every day, cleaning, polishing, shopping and more. In the evenings we went out for dinner and beer, favourite place for beer, Les Trois Brasseurs.

Left Papeete to join the Tahiti Pearl Regatta, due to start in Raitea. Kieran from WARC joined us as journalist/crew, good help and a lot of fun. Also Uwe from the german Yacht Magazin join us on STREGA and help to sail succsesfull the regatta. First night of the regatta we all ancored outside a small motu for a great party, great dancing with Brian and others.

The racing was fun but we wished for more wind. The final day we reached Bora Bora, had our best race around a triangle track with the crew of Cleone who did a great job, we had lots of fun. Thanks on James, Elizabeth and Will.

A couple of days of relaxing on Bora Bora, Andreas friend Izzet arrived and we found a great ancorage outside a motu. Wonderfull snorkling with stingrays and spotted eaglerays. One night we had crew-dinner in the famous restaurant Blody Mary, food was great but the service a bit to fast. The day before our planned departure a storm report reached us. We ended up staying a couple of days more in now - Boring Bora. Finaly, after one night of some wind (less than 30 knots)we set off towards Cooks, Rarotonga. Today the genacker is set and we are all enjojing sailing under blue sky and in fifteen knots of wind.
