Spinnaker up, and away we go.
After a full day of motoring and a weather forecast that was less than
encouraging, we did not expect much from today. But at 2030 yesterday,
Greenwich Mean Time (1030 in the morning our time), a sailing breeze set
in. So up went the main and up went the big spinnaker. It was a bit
hesitant at first, but as time went on, the breeze became more confident.
And off we went, with Cleone settling into her stride. And so today, for
the first time, we are going to post our first decent day's total of proper
sailing miles.
Apart from that excitement, and it is excitement, we have been pondering on
the lack of bird and sea life. Unlike the Atlantic, dolphins and other
fish seem rare, and we have seen no birds since we left Bora Bora, which itself
did not team with bird life. We think this latter will change in Suworrow,
one island of which is famed for its bird life. Oh, and it is also famed
for its lobsters. So more of both of these anon - we will have to find
something to do during the six days we are scheduled to be on this group of
desert islands!
And today's total miles run - all under sail - is 136!
All well with us, and best wishes to everyone.
