Hello everyone,
I'm the new crew member Ruby.
I offered to try and be creative and do a daily log, as the skipper's stomach is a lot better now so he's able to ask politely!!...... for my help in producing the logs.
So firstly a little about myself. I'm 23 years old so the youngest crew member. I am a fully trained physiotherapist, however I have resigned from work to travel around the world, so subsequently I am also the youngest retiree on the boat. I started my travelling by crewing another boat across the Atlantic, in the same rally as Kasuje. After that I travelled around the Caribbean, then spent time in Miami and Quito, finally meeting up with the crew in the Galapagos islands.
Now to the sailing stuff.
We have carried on by following the Australian weatherman's advice, which at present is pretty much spot on. Therefore, he really is the best thing since Kylie Minogue, which I think was meant to be a compliment judging by Steves taste in music, i.e. Abba. Bruce the weatherman informed us there would be light winds of around 10 knots until heading further south and then they will hopefully increase to 15. Due to these light winds we are motor sailing at present and making good ground with the aid of a helping current.
The Skipper, Bruce and Angela worked hard today setting up the port Spinnaker Pole to help hold the Genoa position for downwind sailing, whilst I have enjoyed a nice relaxing day of eating ice cream and reading in the glorious sunshine and calm seas, so after all of this hard work of typing i am going for a nap.
All the best to everyone,
Kind regards,
Ruby and the crew X
