Weather Forecast 12-11-2019

ARC+ Weather Forecast
12/11/2019 issued at 0720Z

High SW of Azores with a ridge SE to Cape Verde and S to 20N over E Atlantic will drift W and merge with a stronger high NW of Azores on 13th. High will SE over the Azores by 15th.

Gale over the SW Biscay will track SE over N Spain by tomorrow afternoon. An associated cold front will tracks SE through Iberia/Madeira tomorrow before tracking E through Morocco overnight 13th/14th.

A thermal trough of low pressure extends along the coast of W Morocco to Western Sahara. This trough is forecast to remain moderate to strong in intensity through 16th, fluctuating in strength over the next several days. The trough will then dissipate on 17th.

Conclusion:

Zones AA and BB, the interaction between the thermal trough and ridge of high pressure will continue to cause gusty winds into the middle to lower 30s to persist through 13th. The gustiest of winds will be found on the N side of each zone especially between the islands of the Canaries due to funnelling effects. The largest swell will also be found on the N side of each zone with lower conditions on the S side of each zone. Conditions will begin to gradually improve by 14th.

Zones GG and MM, conditions will also remain similar over the next 2-3 days. As the interaction between the features is much weaker to the south, lighter conditions are expected. Freshening to strong breezes are still expected to occur today, but will become more light to moderate breezes by 13th-14th. Swell will also gradually lower over the next 2-3 days as swell becomes longer in period.
