ARC USA Weather BVI-Florida May 09

Weather BVI-Florida
May 09 06:46z

Synopsis: Good day. A cold front currently extends WSW'ward from the Azores to
the N'rn Bahamas. This front will slowly weaken as it moves ESE'ward across the
central Bahamas through the 11th.

A ridge of high pressure is currently centered near 25N/33W with a ridge axis
that extends W'ward to the Leeward Islands and the central Bahamas. This ridge
will gradually move E'ward back across the E'rn Atlantic through the 10th.

Another (stronger) ridge of high pressure will build S'ward from New England,
across Bermuda and the N'rn Bahamas by this morning. The center of this high
pressure will move SE'ward to just north of Bermuda, with moderate to strong
ridging persisting across the Leeward islands to the Florida Peninsula through
the 13th.

Conclusion: Expect mainly moderate to fresh trade conditions across grids OBC
and Gulf through the next few days due to mainly high pressure ridging. The
highest conditions will be located across grid OBC, just north of Windward
Passage and Haiti due to funneling E'ly winds. Swell will be slightly higher
through the Old Bahama Channel closer to the Cuban coast. The lowest conditions
are expected across grid Gulf as waters remain mostly protected from E'ly
trades in the lee of the Bahamas. Localized funneling effects can be expected
between Islands, where wind gusts/seas may be locally higher.
