BVI to Florida WX - 08 May

BVI to Florida WX
08 May

PREPARED: May 08 09:50z FM: WEATHER ROUTING INC. (WRI)

Synopsis: A front extends from just east of Bermuda SSW'ward to near 25N/65W and then sw'ward to the Dominican Republic. The front will stall in this same general area today, moving little through tonight as it weakens to a trough. The trough will then drift w'ward starting tomorrow and by late tomorrow it will extend from near 27N/65W sw'ward to the Dominican Republic, then weakening further as it moves to extend from 27N/67W to the Turks/Caicos.

Broad ridging covers west of this front to Florida and s'ward across the Bahamas. The ridging will ,strengthen somewhat across the Turks/Caicos and the s'rn Bahamas through tonight with moderate ridging remaining in place through
the 10th.

Conclusion: As the frontal boundary remains stationary today across Zone A, B, and C, expect Higher winds to along the N'rn Fringe of Zone A, with N'ly winds along the NW'rn portion of Zone B and S'ly winds SE'rn portion of Zone B. Initially large seas due to the stationary front will tend to abate from the South of Zone A, N'ward towards the central half of Zone C as the front weakens. Winds will tend to remain strongest across Zones A, B and D as the front weakens over the next couple of days. With regards to Zone OBC, conditions across this area will generally be light to moderate with minimal seas due to the protection of the Islands to the North, and since this zone is away from the influence of the frontal boundary. Will need to continue to monitor for potentially heavy squalls across Zone A, B and C due to the weakening frontal boundary. Within heavy squalls vessels can expect to encounter gale force winds at time and locally higher seas.
