Mischief - Mischief Blog 1st October - Mauritus

The long and winding road.

And so it is, surfing over, through and around hairpin bends that the waves of the Indian Ocean create. Relax for a minute and the little devil has thrown you into the nearest hard object that bruises your skin upon impact. Or to describe it another way Woohoo, Yeeha!!! We're roller coasting our way to Mauritius.

We flew over the start line, Mischief teaming a white ensemble, matching white genoa and main, the crew awaiting patiently for their donuts which were promised after the spinnaker was raised. As we rounded the island into the Indian Ocean the conditions allowed the skipper to raise the coloured sail, adding sparkle to the outfit and surging us forward to join the lead boats. At last the long awaited donuts were ours for the taking whilst relishing in audible praise from the skipper. We're day 5 now and have used the genoa with a pole, without a pole, reefed and not reefed. The wind has been gusting up to 30 knots and squalls have soaked us to the skin but as always morale, in the main has remained good. Although after one particularly wet night Mark was forced into a rendition of the Monty Python "self flagellation" sketch using all of the available ropes. Thanks for cheering us shipmate. Last night Heidi, the Watt and Sea (Hydro generator)who has been working very hard this trip both at providing hydro electricity and bemoaning her situation, broke her line in an attempt to give herself a break. So this morning Skipper popped on his Superman hat and whilst we "hoveto", and mended Heidi from the back of the transom. Mark held onto him to prevent Mischief's "old man" falling over board. Ssssssh don't tell him but he's actually quite useful on board.

Come Dine with Mischief is progressing well, Wendy's is currently working on her entry for tonight a sumptuous sausage salvia. I was commis chef today, as always and chopped the ingredients to perfection, despite the winds attempts to sabotage the preparations. Smells good can't wait.......Could this be the winning dish? Other contenders this week have been Mark with his Italian sausisson, pasta sensation. Dave with his satisfying, salivating steak that he actually thought was pork or maybe even a skippy! Mark provided the Revel in Roasted Veg to accompany Dave's steak. And much to the Skippers disgust the day before yesterday Neen provided a delicious Vegetarian soup with no meat at all!!!!! Even though earlier in the evening Neen and Mark, well Mark really caught two tuna.  Neen could not bare to see the poor little things suffer with their big scared eyes and insisted they were put back where they could swim with their friends. Could she be going home?...............And so the adventure continues.
