Angerona - Finnishing line - by the Captain

We finnished the ARC at 11 39 30 lokal time, 15 39 30 UIT. Everyone was satisfied, and happy.  The last hours went very slow. The wind was 5 to 10 knots from 090 degrees, so the vessels speed was varying between 1,8 and 5 kn from  09 30 UIT.  It was nice to se other saylyachts coming from the horizont with all the sails as we vent on to the finishing line.   ARC met us in the marina with music, drinks and fruit, so there were a little selebration.  We continued the selebration a little in the evening, but went relative early to bed well satisfied.   Again thank you to all that helped us to do this, an a special thanks to Haakon Rekstad and Elbe fishingequipment.  They served us with all we needed for fishing our own fish during the voyage.  We got. read more...

Angerona - 10.12.2011 - Finnishing the Atlantic crossing by the captain

As the ARC crossing goes to end up in Saint Lucia, and we estimate to arrive around xxx o'clock today, Saturday 10, I am very thoughtful. This crossing has been dream for me for a long time, and I think this is the time to thank all the people that have made this possible to carry out.   First I want to thank my doughters: Mari-Amanda (20) and Anya-Henriette (29) who take care of our business when we are away.   I took my certificate for Deck Officer Class 5A at Arsile school in Oslo, and want to thank Lars S. Larsen for all he teached me about boats, navigation and living at sea.  I had never been sailing a yacht before we bought this sailyacht from Fjord Sail AS at Høvik.  The owner of the company, Tor Hove, gave us very good advise when we ordered the boat. read more...

Angerona - Blogg thursday 7.12 to friday 8.12 by Ingo aus Norwegen.

Well folks, the Atlantic crossing is about to make an end. Tomorrow afternoon local time, the goal is within our reach !!   Strange, but fun. I have never been interrested in sailing, but the captain asked me for some months ago, and now I have learnd a lot (but not enough). The last few days have been kind of boring without wind and a lot of motorsailing. But there have been some happenings also. Gro got a 5 kg Tuna fish and was so proud  that se didn't know which leg to stand on and the smile got from ear to ear. We were also visited by some dolphins and took a lot of great pictures. Talking about  pictures, we have been taking thousands of pictures and I have filmd houers of houers with my action video camera. Hope to create a great video on Youtube.   Yesterday I. read more...

Angerona - Blogg day 16 by Gro

Today its monday, and Gro is writing.  The last days we have had just a light breeze and problems to catch the wind. It,s a little bit better today, but not much. Maybe it,s more realistic that we will arrive in Saint Lucia on Saturday or Sunday. The days are hot, and the nights too.  We are just wearing a shorts and a t-shirt during the nights.  It,s hard to go to sleep, and we are a little bit sleepy in the daytime. But, we are not complaining!  Suddenly the rain is pouring down.  The showers are coming quickly, sometimes in a few minutes. They are lasting for a few minutes, and then it,s sunny again.  To "read" these showers are not easy for beginners.  Sometimes they can bring strong winds, another time not. (But, I think we are learning) The. read more...

Angerona - Blogg day 14 & 15 by Gjermund (Ingo aus Norwegen)

Hi folks ! It's my turn again to tell you about our sailing over The Atlantic with S/Y Angerona the last few days.  The Capt. Fred "McGyver" fixed the watermaker, working on it for over 2 days. Now we produce water again. Today Haakon, the youngest crew member had to go 15 meters up in the mast loosening a rope. A tough job for a tough guy. We have gone far south and are heading west to St. Lucia, about 770 nautic miles. We have lost some wind and are sailing slower now. We are using all our 3 sails, and hope to arrive St. Lucia on friday, but with this wind it could be saturday. Today we had some rain and that felt good and gave us some speed for a couple of houers.   The days go by and are wery much the same. It's getting warmer and we are sunbathing on the deck in 30+,. read more...
