Hi folks ! It's my turn again to tell you about our sailing over The
Atlantic with S/Y Angerona the last few days.
The Capt. Fred "McGyver" fixed the watermaker, working on it for over 2
days. Now we produce water again. Today Haakon, the youngest crew member had to
go 15 meters up in the mast loosening a rope. A tough job for a tough guy. We
have gone far south and are heading west to St. Lucia, about 770 nautic miles.
We have lost some wind and are sailing slower now. We are using all our 3 sails,
and hope to arrive St. Lucia on friday, but with this wind it could be saturday.
Today we had some rain and that felt good and gave us some speed for a couple of
houers.
The days go by and are wery much the same. It's getting warmer and we are
sunbathing on the deck in 30+, bathing in The Atlantic from the platform behind
the boat with kilometers of water under, eating Gro's delicius meals. Today we
had fresh tuna salad, not bad after 2 weeks at sea, and I tell you, we are not
loosing weight here on board. We also got fresh baked muffins today, yesterday
cookies. We celebrated saturday with a little glass of Aquavite (water of life)
and we had a glass of dry white wine celebrating 2 weeks in the Atlantic
today.
We are reading books, listening to music and thinking of all of you back
home in Norway with winter, snow and prepearing for christmas. The last days I
have read more in my book Mengele Zoo, which I got from my best friend Christian
(Hooka Hey) with a very personal letter, the day before I left Norway. I have
been listening to Whitesnake, Rhapsody of Fire and Helloween on my mp3 player
the last days and I feel I miss my children Thea, Kristian, Ragna and Margit
alot. Looking forward to come back to all of you for christmas in Rjukan,
Telemark.
Sittin' on nightwatch in the cockpit 4 o'clock in the mornng listening to
David Coverdale singing Love Is Blind, you get sentimental and thinking of
everyone you miss
and love, and about the special girl from Spikkestad you met for some years
ago. You want to send a text message or make a call, but you have to wait for
another week.
Well, thats life at a sailboat in the Atlantic sea.
As a rookie, this have been, and still is a fantastic experience to get,
together with the thre other rookies on board. Learning new things about sailng
every day, se and feel how fantastic big the Atlantic are. We haven't seen a
boat the last few days, and it makes you think about how special the earth are.
We feel completely alone
here, but it's a good feeling. Unusial. Give us time to think...
Well, that's all folks, for now.
Fred, Gro, Gjermund and Haakon
