Location: Gran Canaria - West of Africa
Welcome to our crew. We have a highly experienced team of 6 with over 200 years of sailing experience in all regions of the world, and an average age of 105 :)
- Chris Stott: Chris is a qualified Yachtmaster and is the Tahira skipper, and our leader and coach. He is pulling the team together and starting to define the roles for each member of the crew - forging us from a bunch of hopeless individuals
into a finely-tuned cohesive team - we shall see!
- Peter Lindsay: Peter is an experienced sailor and co-owner of Tahira. He is the only one to have previously sailed the Atlantic - completing the ARC in 2022. His experience is proving invaluable as we seek to define our own way.
- John Mactear: John is a qualified Yachtmaster and Co-owner of Tahira with Chris and Peter. He is a fantastic hands-on sailor - always keeping busy. He is also known as the squirrel with a reputation for hiding away extra clothing or other
items above his allocated quota.
- Tony TIG Meyer: Tony is an experienced sailor and our senior statesman. He is a great diplomat and peace maker when team members get stressed. He also leads the way on all social activities - particularly those involving trips to the bar.
- Bryan Hammond: Bryan is a qualified and experienced UK and Mediterranean skipper. He was also volunteered to be the Tahira quartermaster - responsible for all provisioning and strict adherence to the daily rum ration.
- Andy Bruce: Andy is a qualified Coastal Skipper but very happy to play second fiddle to two of his oldest mates - John and Chris. He also likes tidiness and is somewhat anxious about the potential creeping chaos as we work our passage.
