The fleet begin to arrive in beautiful Bermuda

So the first arrivals are beginning to make their way through the St Georges town cut in Bermuda this afternoon with the first arrival Lone Star, the Amel 54’ arriving at dawn this morning. Following her was Soledonna, Traveling Light and Dreamcatcher. Our next arrivals this afternoon will be yachts Ayama. Easy Rider and Lady Ann, followed by a busy night for the rally team as the bulk of the fleet filter in.

It had been a slow start from Nanny Cay with most yachts recording long spells of motor sailing before the wind picked up as they headed North, providing some great conditions for a reach up to Bermuda. The wind is now a consistent 12-18kts from the Southeast here in St Georges, making for some tricky berthing at the Dinghy Dock, however there is a fine anchorage inside the harbour where boats can drop the hook and dinghy ashore for some well deserved Bermudan dark & Stormy.

Crews have been welcomed by the yellow shirts on the customs dock, the boats first point of call on arrival into the island. The ever so helpful and professional Bermuda Radio watch down on the rally boats from a long way out, but do not begin communication with them until they are 25NM. They then remain in regular contact until they enter the cut in St Georges.

We look forward to welcoming in the rest of fleet over the next 24-48 hours, just in time for the Grrrreat Pirate Party on Saturday evening at the St Georges Dinghy & Sports Club
