It has been a wild wet and windy 24hours here in Horta Marina on the island of Faial, with arrivals from yachts Miss Carol, Purrr-fect, Halo, Luna, Irena, Endo 2 and Chiscos. It has been a great relief to the rest of the fleet seeing some of the smaller boats in the fleet come around the breakwater and drop anchor or raft up alongside other arrivals.

Last evening at 1800, ARC Europe yachts already safely inside Horta marina congregated in the infamous Peter cafe Sport for the daily happy hour. It was great to see so many participants all together once more after their atlantic passage. Following from this was the crew supper in Canto da Doca, a lovely local restaurant close to the marina, specialising in serving your meal raw and allow you to cook your food yourself on volcanic stone, heated to 568 degrees celsius. The crews thoroughly enjoyed their meal as well as the company, so much so that we intend to do the same again on Friday.

Whilst many participants enjoyed a hot meal, some fine wine in the comfort of a dry restaurant, other crews were still battling with the 40+knot winds as they approached Horta. Miss Carol was met by Rally control's Kieran at 0100 this morning followed by Yacht Purr-fect an hour later and then Halo who turned up at around 0400. It was great to greet so many smiling faces after a tough passage at sea, especially to Halo who had double-handed the whole rally thus far, also diverting their course to help support Outer Limits during their abandon ship.
This afternoon Chiscos entered the marina after a very tough 24 hours, when winds of up to 50knots were blowing as they arrived. The VHF went very hot as rally boats heard of their safe arrival and look forward to sharing a refreshing drink in Peter Cafe Sport this evening.
