Rafiki - Rafiki - Jamon goes off
Sunday 9th December
James and Cally write:
This morning Emily and I had porridge for breakfast. In the night
Emily slept on deck again and saw dolphins and phosphorescence with
Andy.
Mum, Emily and I did a lot of cooking this morning: Emily made 3
different flavours of cookie, Mum made a banoffi pie for lunch and I
cooked up some popcorn to eat with Andy while we watched Star Wars.
While we were doing this, the wind gradually came in, so we could sail
at a proper speed again.
Just before lunch we put up the spinnaker. It was wonderful and we
made good progress with it.
This afternoon a sad thing happened. Andy went to his beloved jamon
to cut off some slices for supper and found, to his utter
consternation, that the jamon had started to go off. We had no choice
but to go for a solemn burial at sea, after a short moment of quiet
reflection.
