Adina - Day 16 Seaweed, sunshine and success

Adina and her merry crew are now less than 1000 miles from St Lucia. In recognition of this special moment, the Week 3 snack tin was opened to rapturous applause.
We continue to head west, in bright sunshine and with increasing wind which Adina appears to enjoy and justifies the skipper’s decision to head so far south. He is also the one who loves to roll.
Yesterday we covered 146 miles and we hope today to be able to break the 150 mile mark. We had a neighbour appear on AIS - the first time for three days - and highlights the vastness of this place.
Our deck inspections have identified nothing serious, except requiring the removal of deceased flying fish.
For the fourth day we have had to plow through increasing lines of seaweed - olvreus seeweedicus (paininthearseus) and as a result had to clean off both Lucy’s and Mona Lisa’s undercarriage three times during the night with the use of our marine grade trigger’s broom.
The most sought after fresh fish meal is yet to be caught so we have had to do with frozen pollack, butternut rosti with a rice and tomato jus. Individually they were brilliant but we are confident John Torode would consider them to be less than perfect companions - perhaps they are a mid Atlantic speciality that he is yet to experience.
Tin crushing and plastic waste cutting, continue apace and yesterday we also saw the ARC pink shirt wash and, following an inspection of water levels by Andrew, a freshwater shower for the crew - what a great day!
Yesterday also saw ship’s time regressing to UT - 2 hours, leaving just two more time zones to cross before St Lucia. We have introduced Tiffin Time to the afternoon programme at about 4pm. This additional feast includes Tea/coffee with Chocolate Brownie or cake - the later made fresh in the breadmaker - so versatile a machine.
The film Groundhog Day has been selected to be shown at the inaugural Mid Atlantic Cinema where popcorn will be replaced by millions of stars.
Investigations have started into the case of the missing Digestive biscuits - the remaining survivors are now under round the clock guard and house arrest.
Unfortunately there have been no further leads in the ‘Who ate all the Wine Gums‘ investigation. Allegations are rife and legal counsel for both these cases are being prepared in St Lucia.
Despite all this, morale on board continues to be high - we are having a ball….
