Time Out - Time Out - Day 2 Bermuda to Azores

Day 2 of our Atlantic crossing. The night was a peaceful one, the wind that had us sailing at 7+ kt left us during the night, and since, we have been sailing and motor sailing in light winds. As the evening closes in the winds are starting to pick up, and we can achieve 7+ kt again, from tomorrow things should get faster. Last night the whole crew was sick, a combination of the boat movement and the experience of the Atlantic had everybody basically KO. Today is a lot better, everybody is finding their sea legs, and moving around the boat. Cooking has restarted and people should be fine from here out. The wind has shifted SE, so we can get a better route towards the Azures, we are still aiming a fair way North to try and get around the « Azores High » which is going to get in our way. A fine balance of going NE, but not too far North and running into harder weather. The weather forecast changes every time we look at it, which makes things a little more dynamic than the trade winds route. The ARC boats which left last Wednesday are still pretty spread out, but slowly they are mostly heading NE now as well, we may catch some of them along the way…

We have the company of the odd boat here and there as most people are taking the same course to deal with the weather in the coming day(s). We have had the rods out all day, but NOTHING…. Very disappointing, but we don’t see much in the way of flying fish out here, so I guess the Mahi-Mahi/Tuna dont have a lot to eat :-( We’ll try again tomorrow, some fish would be good all the same ! Yesterday we saw some Whales jumping a little away from us, but besides that no marine life to speak of so far.
