Sally - After four days at sea

Hi,
since the start we have a constant searching for wind. We have been out four days now and are only around 430 M from Las Palmas and still have more than 200 M left before we are at the turning point into the trade winds.

The forecast from PredictWind continues to predict light wind in the area. Each weather bulletin from ARC is so positive predicting at least 10 knots of wind and we got that for shorter periods and then the wind is down to 3-8 knots from ENE. The positive thing with this is that we got plenty of time fixing small things, got a gentle transfer from life in a harbor to life at sea.

We have adopted to the life on board with watches, sleep, cooking good food and have a nice time while waiting for wind. We still see some boats around us and infortunately some of them turn of their AIS transponders making nightly encounters more challanging since its hard to decide distance and course of these boats.

To you who dream or want to cross the Atlantic, consider to do it with ARC, we have learnt a lot about ocean sailing and preparations, got new friends and last but not least, we had a fantastic stay in Las Palmas.

Fair winds
From the crew on Sailing Sally
