Sweet Dream - Day 19 January 31, 2019

We were measured and not found wanting. Passed the inspection for the Advisor to be on the boat for the canal transit. Found out we had to wait yet another day to be fumigated. ( A nasty bit of business that we have stowed everything away in plastic bags and covered with paper for.) No one has been able to explain just what we are being fumigated against, nor what type of chemical is being used. All I have to go on is cruiser forums that all mention an oily slick residue after fumigating...hence the wrapping in plastic and paper, but oy vey! What a hassle. Today I arose at 05:30 and spent three and a half hours preparing to be fumigated, only to find out it wasn’t going to happen today. So we foolishly took the van to the supermarket. SIX hours later we returned. What a nightmare journey! The only positives are that a....the food is on the boat now, and b...we received a ride from the market in a comfy refrigerated truck. Wow. Any future WARCers reading this....SKIP the trip to Colon to provision....get stuff in Santa Marta and Panama City. Nuff said....the Sweet Dream was a bit of a nightmare today!
