Theodora - 8/12 in the morning

The most important thing to know is that the curry pie was a hit with the crew. Ŵe had a couple of half decent squalls in the night and both were easily dealt with.

We wake us this morning to bright sunlight with a few clouds, fair weather cumulus, dotted across the sky. Unfortunately the wind speed has dropped to below 20 knots and we have a short swell which is making life a little bouncy. We are not sure where this swell is coming from as it cannot be caused by our local conditions. Hopefully this will change as the sun warms our fifty square miles patch of the North Atlantic.

That’s one of the strange things about this journey which is that our horizon is about four miles which means we can see only about 50 square miles of ocean at a time. Essentially our view of the sea never changes. Yes the waves might get bigger or smaller, we see very little wildlife. To date we have seen dolphins twice, loads of little flying fish and clumps of sea weed, that’s it. The only way we really know how vast this patch of ocean is that we are crossing is that we have seen two other boats in nine days.

We now have a mere 667 miles to go. This should be a cheerful moment for the crew but most are asleep.
