Hi everyone,

We are now planning the end game to finish the race. everyone is focused on the daily updates on the positions of the boats which we typically get round lunchtime.

The last 24 hours have been challenging with wind shifts making keeping the optimum course difficult. We are currently being chased by Blue Ocean a 61ft multihull running a huge spinnaker, but have held them off for the last 36 hours but they remain on the horizon (just). Everyone is improving on the helm, but at night this far south it goes very dark so we are utterly dependant on the instruments. however those not on the helm are enjoying fantastic views of stars and providing updates on our current rival Blue Ocean.

Matt continues the battle with his sextant and managed a fix on Venus due to the excellent visibility of the stars, the daily lunchtime sights continue.

Sail changes are becoming more routine and to an untrained observer they may think we know what we are doing ( we are prepared to consider provisional offers from any Volvo Ocean Race Boats)

Yesterday marked an epic milestone where we passed the halfway point (by mileage) which was briefly celebrated with a beaker of wine, before race mode was resumed.

Cheers
Matthew
