Raritan - Raritan – 11/29/18 – Day Five

Thursday dawned bright and windy. Everyone had slept well except Captain Ian, who was busy diagnosing an electrical issue. At first watch, we unfurled the Code 0 and picked up an additional 1.5 knots.
With Captain Ian at the helm, we set a new Raritan speed record of 14.7 knots. We spent the day lounging in the cockpit, listening to Dire Straits and recounting old stories. Everyone was feeling fresh, since we seem to have finally dialed in the boat. When light is good and we have many hands on deck, we’ll step on the accelerator, but we have learned to reef early to take pressure off. Most important, the wind is favorable for us to make good progress toward home. A good day!
