Bimble - Bimble log 4 Sushi and poetry

'Sushi and poetry’

The Trade winds filled in for us overnight, so winds of E-NE16 knots plus and glorious big Atlantic swell that lifts the boat up high as they pass smoothly and seamlessly underneath our keel. Only the bigger ones make ‘Bimble’ skew slightly but she is handling the conditions magnificently….she is a great gal. Our speed it 7-9 knots, our record so far is 11.5knots. We are sailing with our twin head sails, wing on wing. There is now only one other boat on our AIS but we can’t see them, the ARC fleet have certainly spread out, finding their own patch of Ocean. We have had a few VHF chats when passing other boats but we are now enjoying our solitude.

So we are very happy with our sail plan and can do no more but take some well needed R & R, reflective time…..games haven’t started yet, I am still hoping for Scrabble or Scrawl today…that fish kinda kept us ALL busy yesterday, it was a very exciting time landing it.

So a creative morning, Lucy and Freyja made us fabulous Sushi for our lunch, along with a Nicoise salad, bread, olives….and more cooked tuna on the side!!….Yes it is tuna, tuna, tuna for a few days to do justice to the beautiful fish that we all caught. Stephen meanwhile took himself off to have his own quiet time on the trampoline and his creativity flowed forth, he shared his hidden talent and made us all laugh with his poem.

ON SITTING ON THE TRAMPOLINE

On sitting on the trampoline
the wind is soft the scene serene
Support is diamond shape and kind
a dimpled pattern on my behind.

supports my weight which is a wonder
To jump and test would be a blunder

The food is great - thanks to the gender
Yes, tis me that still looks like a fender.

Our Skipper is a feisty chick
We all behave; I do not spit

Meanwhile, Bimble flys along
The wind the waves they are our song
Of life and love and wordly splendour
But woe, our skippers on a bender.
