Blonde Moment - Nearly there!!

Hello again!

We've passed the 1,000 mile distance to go mark so we had our second ice-cream treat this afternoon - those last few miles seemed to take ages, but now they've passed, we're steaming ahead and eating the miles quite quickly!

Of course, discussions are being had about our ETA and the pressure is on to maintain our position, now it is established so tactics and sail trimming techniques are in full flow and we're disappointed if VMG is less than 7knots! Over 7 and it become VGM (very good miles). A week ago we would have been happy with 5!! After days of not seeing any boats, like buses, 3 came at once today!!

We know we're on our way to somewhere hot, it's very muggy and warm at night, on watch now in shorts and t-shirts! Still little marine life, though one boat reported seeing killer whales yesterday. He was showering on the aft deck and his crew shouted at him to move away as 6 mtrs behind him were 2 killer whales, not quite baring their teeth, but as the story gets passed on from boat to boat, it certainly gets exaggerated!

We're starting to get a little stiff not having walked (apart from our daily rig check round the boat) for over 2 weeks now. Trying to do pilates/yoga on the rear deck isn't so easy with the Atlantic swell and a lifejacket, which is pretty heavy duty when wearing it so much, my shoulders could do with a good massage!

We're still eating well, we had fresh scones yesterday and a great frittata for dinner. Certainly won't be losing any weight! Unfortunately we haven't caught any more fish, but apparently we should be using hair etc to lure them to our hook!!??

The moon is huge tonight but there's a lot of cloud around and the wind doesn't know whether to be 15 or 22knots, now quite steadily from the East. It's due to increase as the week goes on.

Hope all good at home
