Still the same general weather pattern. Seas are confused with lots of waves coming from all directions. Last night sounded like large logs crashing on the hull of the boat. Everything would go sideways including us. Cups came out of closed cupboards and crashed everywhere. Well, I didn't like those cups anyway. Time for some new Tervis tumblers.
Things still rolly and winds have calmed to 25-30kts. Bill says we are moving along and adapting to the conditions. We are averaging 7-8.5 nautical miles an hour. We could go faster if the waves weren't so persistent. Even though these conditions persist it is easy to sit outside in the cockpit and be in awe of the strength and power of the sea. Sea life abounds in all its glory. We see flying fish among the waves escaping the figure of Crazy Horse. The birds are amazing too. They just swoop down between waves for their choice of catch of the day-which I imagine are the flying fish. We tried to take movie pictures but nothing quite captures the feeling of it all without being here.
We heard the positions of the others on the radio. Think the closest one to us is Tucanon and they are 40plus miles ahead of us. Ocean Jasper is out there somewhere but we still are able to email each other with our positions. The net is challenged to report positions because we are all so scattered across this ocean. Drammer is kindly relaying the information to the net controller. He has a wonderful voice on the radio-I could listen to him all day!
We go forward and are hoping to see our little island by Friday or Sat.
