After a night of light airs on a conservative white sails plan our speed had dropped with the wind. We were starting to wallow and the experience was frustrating to say the least. As the sun rose all hands were in deck for 07:30 and the excitement was palpable as we set about launching our Bora for the first time. We had spent an hour or so in Mindelo prepping the sail, so were confident that with the addition of lines all would be good. And so it proved. Our speed has lifted by 2-3 kts, course is slightly more west than ideal but no flogging or stress on the system. The Hydrovane is very happy. Crew morale is high having just shared a ripe juicy mango whilst being gently wafted along by the Bora.
