The fleet left Povoa the morning of the Saturday to arrive in Figueira da Foz late afternoon were an optional supper was available in the marina restaurant. This stop would get all the boats together at last, as yachts Amarone and Agape came down from Povoa and Baiona and different times respectively after solving some issues with their engines.
Yesterday morning the fleet visited Coimbra where they had a guided tour of the incredible university and local town. The tour continued on to Montemor Castle that had stunning views over the Portuguese countryside.
Sunday was a complete day for the fleet as they started early, heading off to Coimbra to visit the incredible university and the local town, all together with a guided tour. Later in the evening the crews gathered at the Forte de Santa Catarina, a Portuguese fort built in 1590 in order to defend and protect the port and the bay of Figueira da Foz. The venue was the perfect sunset rendezvous to a busy day, where participants had a welcome drink invited by the Clube Náutico da Figueira da Foz.
Today, the participants are being guided on a walking tour through the streets of Figueira da Foz, by a local of the area, the president of the Clube Náutico da Figueira da Foz, Miguel Amaral. Later in the evening, the fleet will have a welcome reception at the Soto Mayor’s house where they’ll celebrate the prizegiving for the leg from Povoa to Figueira da Foz which will be followed by a dinner at the Casino to commemorate the 25 edition.
