ARC in the Park gets the weekend started!

ARC in the Park gets the weekend going!
10 December 2011

With over 140 ARC boats and around 750 crew now in Rodney Bay Marina, the atmosphere is really hotting up as celebrations run through the day and into the night to welcome the fleet to Saint Lucia.

Last night, local sponsors Digicel hosted the famous ‘ARC in the Park’ evening of outdoor live music which really kicked the weekend activities off in style, as locals mixed with ARC participants in the balmy Caribbean evening. The stage was filled with a variety of local music and acts, with participants even jumping up to join in with the dancers and get into the spirit.

Despite light winds for the past few days, the ARC boats continue to slowly cross the finish line one by one 24 hours a day. With most of the remaining fleet expected to arrive in Saint Lucia today and tomorrow, around 90% should be safely in the marina by the end of the weekend, which will make for a fantastic week ahead in the run up to Prizegiving next Saturday.

This week there are activities planned every day in around the marina, from cooking demonstrations to seminars on Cruising in the Caribbean, and from live steel pan music to football matches. ARC participants along with their many friends and family who have joined them here on the sunny side of the Atlantic are getting involved and sharing stories about their crossing with newly made friends.

Keep up with the latest arrivals on the Fleet Viewer pages of the ARC website…
